Callaway Gardens Spring Getaway

Spring, as one can easily guess, is a beautiful time to visit Callaway Gardens. Callaway has something for the whole family. There are literally hundreds of gorgeous biking trails to ride through, and no worries if not everyone has a bike. Callaway has a huge selections of bikes for rent including kid-size bikes and bikes with infant seats on the back.

There is so much to talk about with Callaway! I have taken this kids here several times. They have something to do for all ages, so everyone stays busy or happily relaxed.

Their Easter Eggstravaganza at Robin Lake Beach is April 3rd from 2 - 5. Hunts are held by age groups, and the Easter Bunny will visit from noon to 5:00 p.m. for boys and girls to have their Easter photo taken. You can bring your own basket or buy one when you arrive. The Egg hunts are free with your admission to Callaway Gardens. (and admission is also free with the packages I mention below :-)

The Callaway Gardens Get Outside and Play Package, starts at $99 per night and includes lodging, two hours of free bike rentals, a free round of golf, two hours of Jon Boat Rental, an hour of Tennis Court Time, admission to Callaway Gardens and the use of their fitness center.

Callaway Facebook Fans, Twitter Followers, and all lovers of the outdoors can get a room starting at just $79 (which included admission to the Gardens). Simply mention the FB/Twitter deal when you make your reservation. As of this post, rooms for April 5 - 9 were still available.

And ahm, Callaway has a spa! This package would be great for a couple families. Let the dads golf for a bit while moms and kids take an amazing bike ride through a few of the trails together, then Moms hit the spa while dads take the kids through the Butterfly Conservatory or the Birds of Prey Exhibit, or even take them on a Geocaching Treasure Hunt.

Geocaching is a blast for kids and an interactive way to enjoy the Gardens. Callaway has hidden “treasures” throughout the Gardens for you to find either by using a GPS unit or by following map directions. Click here for a complete list and description of the caches and search on ZIP code 31822. All of the caches within the Gardens begin with the pre-fix “Callaway Gardens.” Caches are placed in cooperation with the Gardens’ Education Department to ensure that the plants, natural communities, and other features of Callaway Gardens are not damaged or cause searchers to become lost.

So Get Outside and Play! happy trails :-)

Note: There is a Wild Animal Safari in Pine Mountain you will pass on your way to Callaway Gardens. A friend and I stopped there once with the kids. Once. Maybe its changed. Maybe it hasn't. Riding through using their complimentary Tour Bus, which is running during the week of Spring Break, could prove a completely different experience AND it has been over five years since I was there. Just sayin - cause it's expensive! ($17.95 for adults, $14.95 3-12, toddlers free)
